Ipswich Hospital Expansion (QLD)
The $128 million Ipswich Hospital Expansion Project will transform the existing hospital into an improved and expanded facility, offering quality and timely health services to the region.
The Ipswich Hospital Expansion project includes a significantly refurbished and expanded emergency department, enhanced/expanded maternity services, additional critical care beds, new medical/surgical overnight beds, additional radiology services and dedicated paediatric treatment space.
The project is comprised of both, a new building, which will interface with the existing clinical services building, and also extensive refurbishment areas, with all the works staged and co-ordinated, such that they do not affect functioning of the hospital.
Some examples of the refurbishment and infrastructure upgrade works undertaken are:
- Staged refurbishment of live Emergency Department.
- Staged refurbishment of live Intensive Care Unit.
- Theatre refurbishments and upgrades.
- Numerous coordinated shutdowns in order to carry out the demolition and strip out of redundant existing services, service changeovers and service replacements.
- Complete replacement of existing online Emergency Services Back-Up Generating Systems.
